Founded 2016 by Jonathan Ross (former Google TPU designer). Builds Language Processing Unit (LPU) chips specialized for fast AI inference, offered via GroqCloud's API. Distinct from unrelated company "xAI/Grok" (note the spelling difference: Groq the infrastructure company vs. Grok the chatbot) — flagging since the names are easy to confuse.
